Day-to-day of the role:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in line with curriculum objectives, specifically aimed at preparing students for GCSEs and A Levels.
  • Facilitate learning by establishing a relationship with pupils and by organising learning resources and the classroom environment.
  • Assess and record students’ progress and provide grades and feedback.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, parent meetings, and whole school training events.
  • Stay updated on changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Recognised teaching qualification from New Zealand, such as a Bachelor of Education or Graduate Diploma in Teaching.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (e.g., UK Ancestry Visa, Youth Mobility Scheme Visa for those aged 18-35).
  • Strong knowledge of the relevant subject matter and secondary education curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, stamina, patience, dedication, resilience and self-discipline.
