Interim Financial Controller

  • Contract: 3-Month Fixed-Term
  • Location: Brisbane (Hybrid)
  • Salary: $140,000-$160,000 + 12% Super (Pro Rata)
  • Start Date: Immediate Start Preferred

We are seeking an experienced Interim Financial & Planning Controller to lead the finance function through a critical business transition. Reporting directly to the Group CFO, a key priority of this role is the preparation and completion of the company's R&D Tax Incentive claim, while maintaining strong financial control, reporting, compliance, and business continuity during a period of organisational change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • R&D Tax Incentive: Take full responsibility for preparing and finalising the company's R&D Tax Incentive claim, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and defensible.
  • Financial Leadership: Lead the finance function through a period of organisational change and transition.
  • Management Reporting: Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, KPI reporting, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Capital Management: Manage working capital and ensure financial obligations are forecasted and met.
  • Compliance and Controls: Maintain strong financial controls, governance processes, and statutory compliance.
  • Inventory Oversight: Oversee inventory and device lease registers.
  • Service Provider Management: Manage external service providers and ensure a seamless handover of financial records.
  • System Migration Support: Support finance process and system migration activities while maintaining business continuity.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • CA ANZ, CPA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar senior finance leadership roles.
  • Proven success leading finance through business transitions, restructures, relocations, integrations, or transformation projects.
  • Strong management reporting, financial control, compliance, and cash flow management capabilities.
  • Hands-on experience preparing Australian R&D Tax Incentive claims.
  • Strong systems capability, including Xero; exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 is advantageous.
  • Ability to operate independently and provide practical recommendations to senior stakeholders.
